Principal Investigator

Dr. Kiyoung Kim is an associate professor in the Department of Medical Biotechnology at Soonchunhyang University. He received a Ph.D. degree in the School of Biological Sciences from Seoul National University and he did his postdoctoral training at the same University. His current research interest is to understand the exact molecular mechanism of cytoplasmic protein aggregation through post-translational modification including glutathionylation in the pathogenesis of ALS and FTD. Furthermore, his team focuses on imbalanced mitochondrial dynamics and abnormal regulation of mitophagy in neuronal cells and muscle tissues of several neurodegenerative diseases using Drosophila models.
